An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricky Crews in the 9th minute of play forced New York Towers's goalkeeper Hank Gill to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ricky Crews fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hank Gill having to interfere. New York Towers's Rocky Hilton got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wendell Ziegler hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Ricky Crews showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Rocky Ford's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
