The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anton Worthington in the 2nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jesse Cody saved Cross City FC from getting behind. Rocky Hilton could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Jesse Cody made a huge save. In the 13th minute Darren Pham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hank Gill saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rocky Hilton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jesse Cody having to make a save. Jesse Cody took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anton Worthington, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anton Worthington fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jesse Cody having to interfere. Daren Ezell hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Daren Ezell kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Javier Martinez took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 29th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jesse Cody. Cross City FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 32 minutes, D.J. Veltman made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. New York Towers's Hank Gill tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. D.J. Veltman struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Hank Gill didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cross City FC. With a little luck, Cross City FC's Jesse Cody got control of the ball when Rocky Hilton tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Anton Worthington managed to get in a good position for a shot. New York Towers's supporters rose to their feet, but Anton Worthington was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jesse Cody breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Anton Worthington stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Darren Pham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Hank Gill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Cross City FC's zone, Anton Worthington stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jesse Cody came out of the goal and Anton Worthington tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
