An unexpectedly hard shot by Deon Hawthorne in the 3rd minute of play forced Club Atletico Peñarol's goalkeeper Lane Bacon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Eric Schaffer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Rocky Ford's Deon Hawthorne in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Lane Bacon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Deon Hawthorne's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. After having played for 31 minutes, Deon Hawthorne managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rocky Ford's supporters crossed their fingers, but Deon Hawthorne was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 33 played minutes Club Atletico Peñarol got a freekick which was hit by Reggie Ewing. Ricky Crews received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Lane Bacon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Deon Hawthorne hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. 41 minutes into the game, Van Mabry was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rocky Ford's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Atletico Peñarol the free kick. After 41 played minutes Rocky Ford got a freekick which was hit by Van Mabry. 47 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Deon Hawthorne came free, but Lane Bacon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The crowd rose to their feet as Rocky Ford's Ricky Crews slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Lane Bacon. That made the score 1-3 after 57 minutes of play. The supporters of Rocky Ford booed when Club Atletico Peñarol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Moreno didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Nathaniel Randolph had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Deon Hawthorne got free with Lane Bacon in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 78 minutes into the game, Reggie Ewing was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Atletico Peñarol's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rocky Ford the free kick. Reggie Ewing hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. 79 minutes into the match, Ricky Crews notched a goal, 2-4, to the right of Club Atletico Peñarol's Lane Bacon. Lane Bacon was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the final whistle sounded Rocky Ford left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Club Atletico Peñarol.
