In the 9th minute, Shawn Whaley sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and RiverCity Gamblers's Ismael Kline didn't even have to move. Bradly Root received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Brendon Solis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Abdul Vaughn fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored RiverCity Gamblers's protests and gave Abdul Vaughn a yellow card for diving instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Don Nickerson in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ismael Kline prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bradly Root's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 19thth minute, Brendon Solis skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Brendon Solis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zachariah Rosales in the 23rd minute of play. RiverCity Gamblers's Ismael Kline played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jack Ritter in the 25th minute of play. RiverCity Gamblers's Abdul Vaughn got his second yellow card of the match in the 26th minute. The referee ordered Abdul Vaughn off the ground. A collision led to RiverCity Gamblers getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Abdul Vaughn hit a great ball. A hard shot 36 in the game by Gerald McRae from a close distance when the talented Brendon Solis managed to make a qualified save. St Paul Trojans's players were relieved. In the 36th match minute, St Paul Trojans was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Shelton Macias to maneuver through the defense. After 40 played minutes RiverCity Gamblers got a freekick which was hit by Eric Vernon. Shawn Whaley was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 41st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 45th minute, Eric Vernon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 48 minutes into the match, RiverCity Gamblers's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Ritter came free, but Ismael Kline reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jack Ritter was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 59 minutes, Bradly Root managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RiverCity Gamblers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bradly Root was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Don Nickerson came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the St Paul Trojans fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Don Nickerson couldn't finish the play. 67 minutes into the game, Tanner Pittman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. St Paul Trojans's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave RiverCity Gamblers the free kick. In the 67th minute, Tanner Pittman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bradly Root sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eric Vernon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brendon Solis having to interfere. When Bradly Root came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the RiverCity Gamblers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bradly Root couldn't finish the play. Brendon Solis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bradly Root, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. St Paul Trojans's Don Nickerson got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
