Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5625, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 150) Jack Ritter started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 3 minutes into the match, Downriver AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Ritter came free, but Ivan Higgins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 6th minute Don Nickerson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Higgins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Don Nickerson in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ivan Higgins saved Downriver AFC from getting behind. Shelton Macias hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Sydney Cowan might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Brendon Solis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sydney Cowan ran back to his position shaking his head. Sydney Cowan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Brendon Solis made a huge save. After having played for 21 minutes, Sydney Cowan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Downriver AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sydney Cowan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Brendon Solis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ian Tompkins in the 23rd minute. Sydney Cowan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brendon Solis having to interfere. Shelton Macias was shown his second yellow card after 27 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 28th minute, Shelton Macias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to St Paul Trojans getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Rudolph Corbin hit a great ball. In the 30th minute, Ian Tompkins got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sydney Cowan struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Brendon Solis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Downriver AFC. Sydney Cowan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Brendon Solis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Don Nickerson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sydney Cowan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Don Nickerson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Higgins having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rickey Russo during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of St Paul Trojans booed when Downriver AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rickey Russo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Shawn Whaley in the 55th minute really tested Ivan Higgins's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After 58 played minutes Downriver AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ian Tompkins. Shawn Whaley, 59 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ian Tompkins during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Downriver AFC getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Ian Tompkins hit a great ball. In the 66th minute, Shawn Whaley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Don Nickerson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Ivan Higgins made a huge save. Hugo Cox charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hugo Cox the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 71st match minute, St Paul Trojans was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Cox to maneuver through the defense. 72 minutes into the game, Sydney Cowan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Brendon Solis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Downriver AFC's zone, Jasper Ivey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivan Higgins came out of the goal and Jasper Ivey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Downriver AFC's Ivan Higgins proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Downriver AFC from getting a goal against them. After 83 played minutes, Downriver AFC's Filiberto Lovell shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Brendon Solis came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Downriver AFC reached it. In the 84th minute, Sydney Cowan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Don Nickerson notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Downriver AFC's Ivan Higgins. Ivan Higgins was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Downriver AFC booed when St Paul Trojans was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jasper Ivey didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brendon Solis didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Downriver AFC's Sydney Cowan shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Downriver AFC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
