In the 34th minute, one of Downriver AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Downriver AFC. The referee gave The Vasquitos a penalty, 36 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Woody Benton, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Downriver AFC's Ivan Higgins. 2-1. Ivan Higgins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darrel Milton in the 41st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Downriver AFC's zone, Darrel Milton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivan Higgins came out of the goal and Darrel Milton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Domenico Arden hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Ivan Higgins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darrel Milton in the 54th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Downriver AFC's Ian Tompkins got a free kick in the 55th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domenico Arden in the 59th minute of play forced The Vasquitos's goalkeeper Byron Messer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Downriver AFC's Ian Tompkins pulled a muscle in his leg after 63 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 63 minutes, Rigoberto Cook mouthed his way into the referee's book. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Downriver AFC's Domenico Arden in the 72nd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Byron Messer was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for The Vasquitos through an amazing save. Yenal Umurbay kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. The Vasquitos made a substitution. Roscoe Dennison replaced Berry Aviles. The supporters of Downriver AFC booed when The Vasquitos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yenal Umurbay didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Domenico Arden managed to get in a good position for a shot. Downriver AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Domenico Arden was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Byron Messer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Darrel Milton scored 3-1 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ivan Higgins, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, The Vasquitos's Neal Ladner got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After 96 played minutes Downriver AFC got a freekick which was hit by Rickey Russo. For all the effort they put into the match, the Downriver AFC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for The Vasquitos.
