Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Chivas USA's Juan Charro started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rudolf Alvaro kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. After 4 played minutes Goldendale got a freekick which was hit by Felix Oberle. In the 6th minute, Igor Skwira made a precise shot to the right of Boyd Howe. Goldendale's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 15th minute, Igor Skwira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Chivas USA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Perry Echols got free with Dursun Ali Arısal in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Antonio Morales hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Perry Echols's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 28thth minute, Dursun Ali Arısal skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Igor Skwira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boyd Howe having to interfere. Juan Charro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Boyd Howe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chivas USA's Juan Charro got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 43 minutes into the match, Goldendale's goal looked a bit too open when Juan Charro came free, but Boyd Howe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Igor Skwira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boyd Howe having to interfere. Juan Charro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The wind increased when Perry Echols made the kick off in the second half. If Juan Charro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Igor Skwira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boyd Howe having to interfere. When Dennis Matthews came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Goldendale fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dennis Matthews couldn't finish the play. Juan Charro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Boyd Howe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Goldendale defense, Igor Skwira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Boyd Howe. The Goldendale fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Boyd Howe should have stopped the shot. In the 66th minute, Perry Echols got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Terrell Burnham took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 69th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dursun Ali Arısal. Chivas USA's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dursun Ali Arısal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Perry Echols in the 70th minute of the match. Goldendale's Boyd Howe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Goldendale from getting a goal against them. In the 79th minute Juan Charro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boyd Howe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Boyd Howe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Igor Skwira in the 86th minute. When the final whistle sounded Chivas USA left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Goldendale.
