With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ethan Frey prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leland Rubio in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ethan Frey saved Mathews AFC from getting behind. After 10 played minutes Mathews AFC got a freekick which was hit by Harvey Cho. Ethan Frey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leland Rubio in the 11th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the game, John Hartford FC's Christian Kruse nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ethan Frey made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Whitney Swift took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reyes Edmondson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leland Rubio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Ethan Frey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of John Hartford FC booed when Mathews AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francis Flaherty didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leland Rubio might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ethan Frey. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leland Rubio ran back to his position shaking his head. Ethan Frey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leland Rubio in the 24th minute of play. Ethan Frey stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leland Rubio's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute Logan Barajas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ethan Frey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ethan Frey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leland Rubio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The wind increased when Leland Rubio made the kick off in the second half. He walked away shaking his head. Leland Rubio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leland Rubio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ethan Frey having to make a save. Perry Larson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ethan Frey having to interfere. With his leg Ethan Frey managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when John Hartford FC's Leland Rubio fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. A hard shot 69 in the game by Leland Rubio from a close distance when the talented Ethan Frey managed to make a qualified save. Mathews AFC's players were relieved. After 72 played minutes John Hartford FC got a freekick which was hit by Reyes Rivas. John Hartford FC's Wayne MacKenzie was substituted for Wilton Lowery. Reyes Rivas kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Francis Flaherty missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 75 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Whitney Swift right hand side. Leland Rubio's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 91stth minute, Ethan Frey skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Ryan Forbes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Boyce McElroy hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. In the 98th minute, Leland Rubio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. John Hartford FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
