Isaiah Grove showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reyes Edmondson, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Harvey Cho's late challenge caught a Washburn FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Harvey Cho helped the player get up and apologised. After 21 played minutes Mathews AFC got a freekick which was hit by Harvey Cho. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Casey Whitfield in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ethan Frey prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 24thth minute of the game Casey Whitfield who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mathews AFC's Ethan Frey was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mathews AFC's Ethan Frey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Casey Whitfield in the 28th minute of play. Harvey Cho got his second yellow card in the match during the 28th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Harvey Cho hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Casey Whitfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Duane Glenn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Duane Glenn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Boyce McElroy kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Scottie Reid struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Ethan Frey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Washburn FC. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cason Parks to make the kick off. If Perry MacDonald had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 71 minutes into the game, Pedro Tipton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mathews AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Washburn FC the free kick. Pedro Tipton hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Casey Whitfield might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ethan Frey. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ethan Frey came out of the goal and Casey Whitfield tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Casey Whitfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the final whistle sounded Washburn FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Mathews AFC.
