After 16 played minutes John Hartford FC got a freekick which was hit by Bryant Ring. When John Hartford FC's Leland Rubio in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Travis Cangiano's late challenge caught a John Hartford FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Travis Cangiano helped the player get up and apologised. Travis Cangiano kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 29th minute Percy Riker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Whitney Swift saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Whitney Swift took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronny Handy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Travis Cangiano was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 33 minutes into the match. The supporters of John Hartford FC booed when Topton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Travis Cangiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rocco Berg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gregg Erickson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. John Hartford FC's Leland Rubio got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 39 minutes, Maurice Freeman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Topton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maurice Freeman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Leland Rubio came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the John Hartford FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leland Rubio couldn't finish the play. Perry Larson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Gregg Erickson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Reyes Rivas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Maurice Freeman made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Topton's goal looked a bit too open when Leland Rubio came free, but Gregg Erickson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 52nd minute, John Hartford FC's Leland Rubio dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. In the 55th match minute, John Hartford FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reyes Rivas to maneuver through the defense. Maurice Freeman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Whitney Swift having to interfere. John Hartford FC's Ryan Forbes was substituted for Perry Larson. Reyes Rivas got his second yellow card in the match during the 76th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Reyes Rivas kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. The supporters of Topton booed when John Hartford FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reyes Rivas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 79 minutes into the game, Leland Rubio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. John Hartford FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Topton the free kick. Leland Rubio hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind John Hartford FC's goalkeeper Whitney Swift, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ronny Handy hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Elliot Starks's late challenge caught a John Hartford FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elliot Starks helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 89th minute of the game. One of Topton:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of John Hartford FC:s goal. After a defensive mix-up in John Hartford FC's zone, Maurice Freeman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Whitney Swift came out of the goal and Maurice Freeman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match was over John Hartford FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Topton throughout the match.
