Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ronny Handy got the match started through his kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Quentin Urmanski during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Discovery Bay getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Quentin Urmanski hit a great ball. Maurice Freeman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Rick Lane tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 12th minute, Quentin Urmanski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Maurice Freeman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rick Lane showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurice Freeman, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. With his leg Gregg Erickson managed to avoid a goal in the 20thth minute, when Discovery Bay's Darrel McCauley fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Darrel McCauley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gregg Erickson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Corey Childers, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Travis Cangiano hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. An unexpected shot in the 35th minute by Darrel McCauley got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 37th match minute, Discovery Bay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daron Madden to maneuver through the defense. In the 38thth minute of the game Ronny Handy who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Discovery Bay's Rick Lane was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Maurice Freeman notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Discovery Bay's Rick Lane. Rick Lane was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Rick Lane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronny Handy in the 46th minute of play. After the first half Topton were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Discovery Bay's Rick Lane played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronny Handy in the 95th minute of play. The Topton supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Topton would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
