Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rolando Callahan in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ethan Frey prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Los Angeles F.C were furious when Cruz Hardy was red carded, 29 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Sylvester Todd shot the penalty kick right outside the post. 34 minutes into the game, Los Angeles F.C's Rolando Callahan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ethan Frey made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Mitchell Starr received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Ethan Frey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 39 minutes, Rolando Callahan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Angeles F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rolando Callahan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Los Angeles F.C booed when Mathews AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulysses Titus didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Rolando Callahan made the kick off in the second half. Mitchell Starr received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. After a rather tough play, Mathews AFC's Logan Otto got a free kick in the 71st minute. 73 minutes into the game, Pedro Tipton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mathews AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Los Angeles F.C the free kick. A collision led to Mathews AFC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Pedro Tipton hit a great ball. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Los Angeles F.C's Mitchell Starr in the 77th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Ethan Frey was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Mathews AFC through an amazing save. Mathews AFC's Ethan Frey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Mathews AFC from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mitchell Starr in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ethan Frey saved Mathews AFC from getting behind. When Mitchell Starr came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Los Angeles F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mitchell Starr couldn't finish the play. Rolando Callahan had several of the Mathews AFC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 84 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-3 score and a disappointed Ethan Frey as he didn't even see the shot coming. 89 minutes into the match, Mathews AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Rolando Callahan came free, but Ethan Frey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rolando Callahan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Los Angeles F.C's Mitchell Starr got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Los Angeles F.C's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
