Ethan Frey didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 12th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Ethan Frey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mitchell Starr in the 15th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rolando Callahan got free with Ethan Frey in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 19th minute, Mitchell Starr hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the match, Reyes Edmondson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cristopher Munson. Los Angeles F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reyes Edmondson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Keith Duffy in the 27th minute of play forced Mathews AFC's goalkeeper Ethan Frey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mathews AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 28th minute, when Mitchell Starr scored to the left of an out of position Ethan Frey, making the score, 2-1. Ethan Frey stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rolando Callahan's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. In the 37th minute, Christian Magee hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rolando Callahan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Ethan Frey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rolando Callahan to strike the kick off in the second half. Ethan Frey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mitchell Starr, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Los Angeles F.C's Mitchell Starr got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Ulysses Titus fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mathews AFC's protests and gave Ulysses Titus a yellow card for diving instead. Rolando Callahan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Ethan Frey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ulysses Titus hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. In the 68th minute, Rolando Callahan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Keith Duffy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Mitchell Starr had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Los Angeles F.C fans' excitement grew in the 77th match minute when Los Angeles F.C's Mitchell Starr looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
