Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Walter Hawley started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Sawgrass's Duane Carbajal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Sawgrass from getting a goal against them. Nicky Nichols made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marshall Stoner in the 5th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hunter Sousa in the 6th minute of play forced Inter Miami's goalkeeper Nicky Nichols to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 8th minute of the match, Riley Moss tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Duane Carbajal saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a rather tough play, Sawgrass's Heriberto Alston got a free kick in the 8th minute. Walter Hawley scored 0-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nicky Nichols, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nicky Nichols stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marshall Stoner's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. When Riley Moss came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Inter Miami fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Riley Moss couldn't finish the play. After 29 played minutes Sawgrass got a freekick which was hit by Marshall Stoner. Duane Carbajal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Riley Moss, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 30th match minute, Sawgrass was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Heriberto Alston to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Inter Miami getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Bennett Petersen hit a great ball. Riley Moss received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Duane Carbajal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Inter Miami booed when Sawgrass was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shelby Kirkland didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boyd Carpenter recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Walter Hawley took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nicky Nichols. Nicky Nichols dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Nicky Nichols showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marshall Stoner, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. In the 43rd minute Riley Moss shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duane Carbajal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute of the match, Boyd Carpenter got a very nice opportunity to score, but Duane Carbajal was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 47 minutes into the game, Heriberto Alston cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Nicky Nichols was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Sawgrass were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Riley Moss to strike the kick off in the second half. Walter Hawley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Nicky Nichols made a huge save. In the 57th minute, Bennett Petersen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Heriberto Alston recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Riley Moss scored 1-3 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Duane Carbajal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Marshall Stoner took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Nicky Nichols to make any attempt to save it. After some careless play in the Inter Miami defense, Walter Hawley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicky Nichols. The Inter Miami fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicky Nichols should have stopped the shot. Walter Hawley came free with the goalkeeper in the 73rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nicky Nichols could save by the left post. Duane Carbajal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dwight Krause in the 77th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Walter Hawley got free with Nicky Nichols in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sawgrass's Duane Carbajal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boyd Carpenter in the 80th minute of play. After 85 minutes, Bennett Petersen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inter Miami and the Sawgrass players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Inter Miami getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Bennett Petersen hit a great ball. After 87 minutes of play, Sawgrass's Walter Hawley made it 1-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nicky Nichols was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sawgrass's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
