A collision led to FC AUSTIN getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Arturo Melton hit a great ball. Rusty Crane could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Lorenzo Smith made a huge save. After 26 played minutes Cookeville got a freekick which was hit by Rusty Crane. Monty Paul sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, FC AUSTIN's Vicente James got a free kick in the 35th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Norman Drake in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lorenzo Smith saved FC AUSTIN from getting behind. Lorenzo Smith showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Norman Drake, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Cameron Michael received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Andy Neff tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC AUSTIN's Lorenzo Smith played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Norman Drake in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Cookeville's Norman Drake ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Lorenzo Smith. Lorenzo Smith yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rodrigo Biggs was the one to do the kick off. Scottie Salinas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC AUSTIN's Lorenzo Smith played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brock Pittman in the 54th minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, FC AUSTIN's Cameron Michael sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Andy Neff narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Cookeville's zone, Monty Paul stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andy Neff came out of the goal and Monty Paul tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rodrigo Biggs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Monty Paul's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andy Neff read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Scottie Salinas charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Scottie Salinas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC AUSTIN booed when Cookeville was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Scottie Salinas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 93 minutes into the match, FC AUSTIN's Rodrigo Biggs sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Andy Neff narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
