Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Edwardsville's Werner Sylvester started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Werner Sylvester sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sean Braxton was out of position in the 9 minute of play, and Jamar Shaw capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jamar Shaw really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Werner Sylvester's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Glen Sadler read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. If Werner Sylvester had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Werner Sylvester in the 16th minute of play forced Kenner's goalkeeper Glen Sadler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Glen Sadler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reed Deering in the 18th minute of play. Earl Wiley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Glen Sadler having to interfere. Glen Sadler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Werner Sylvester, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Earl Wiley scored 1-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Glen Sadler, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 26th minute, Reed Deering left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Edwardsville fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Reed Deering received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Glen Sadler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Werner Sylvester's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Glen Sadler read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Reed Deering had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Glen Sadler. Kenner's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reed Deering was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. 44 minutes into the match, Kenner's goal looked a bit too open when Werner Sylvester came free, but Glen Sadler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 45 minutes, Thaddeus Kessler mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kenner and the Edwardsville players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 45 played minutes Kenner got a freekick which was hit by Thaddeus Kessler. Edwardsville's Sean Braxton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristobal Root in the 48th minute of play. After the first half Edwardsville were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Oren Gorman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sean Braxton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristobal Root went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 57th minute of the game. One of Edwardsville:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Kenner:s goal. Sean Braxton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oren Gorman in the 64th minute of play. 67 minutes into the game, Jamar Shaw cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-3. Sean Braxton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Oren Gorman scored 5-3 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sean Braxton, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Reed Deerings short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Glen Sadler to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 78th match minute, Kenner was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thaddeus Kessler to maneuver through the defense. Bradley Trimble fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sean Braxton having to interfere. In the 82nd minute, Cristobal Root got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 85 played minutes Edwardsville got a freekick which was hit by Donovan Hanks. In the 88th minute of the match Lanny Melton shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sean Braxton showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Sean Braxton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Oren Gorman's shot from short distance in the 97th minute. Kenner walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
