Seating: 1100, VIP seats: 10) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Werner Sylvester took the kick off in the first half of the match. 4 minutes into the match, Edwardsville's goal looked a bit too open when Bill McCauley came free, but Sean Braxton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Werner Sylvester had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 13th minute, Bill McCauley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lionel Corcoran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Sean Braxton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Lionel Corcoran came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Tampa Bay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lionel Corcoran couldn't finish the play. Reed Deering blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Donnie Holder having to make a save. Donnie Holder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reed Deering, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 28 played minutes Edwardsville got a freekick which was hit by Reed Deering. Bill McCauley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Sean Braxton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Reed Deering had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 42 minutes into the match, Tampa Bay's goal looked a bit too open when Werner Sylvester came free, but Donnie Holder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reed Deering fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donnie Holder having to interfere. In the 45th minute Werner Sylvester shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donnie Holder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edwardsville's Sean Braxton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Edwardsville from getting a goal against them. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The wind increased when Bill McCauley made the kick off in the second half. Lionel Corcoran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Werner Sylvester had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Tampa Bay's Carlo Stroh got a free kick in the 58th minute. In the 59th minute, Werner Sylvester fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Donnie Holder, passed just outside the right post. If Werner Sylvester had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donnie Holder stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Werner Sylvester's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. In the 63rd match minute, Tampa Bay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lane Driscoll to maneuver through the defense. 64 minutes into the match, Edwardsville's Reed Deering sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Donnie Holder narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Tampa Bay's Donnie Holder got control of the ball when Reed Deering tried to sneak it across the goal line. Donnie Holder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Werner Sylvester, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Bill Burris hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Reed Deering received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Donnie Holder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Waylon Hyatt kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. In the 79th minute, Werner Sylvester got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 88th minute, Werner Sylvester ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Donnie Holder was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Reed Deering fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donnie Holder having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Edwardsville eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
