Sam McIntyre was left in no man's land by his defense there! Allen Delgado received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Sam McIntyre came out and tried to block the shot, but Allen Delgado slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 16th minute. The supporters of New York Red Bulls FC booed when Valdosta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Cabourne didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute Cícero Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dudley Lovett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 39th minute, Cícero Amaral got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Allen Delgado got free with Sam McIntyre in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 43 played minutes Valdosta got a freekick which was hit by Giovanni Parks. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Allen Delgado in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sam McIntyre prevented the ball from getting in the gole. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Sam McIntyre made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boruc Zgonina in the 51st minute of play. In the 52nd minute, Tommy Watson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sam McIntyre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Randall Scruggs in the 78th minute of the match. Valdosta's Dudley Lovett proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Valdosta from getting a goal against them. Dudley Lovett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cícero Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cícero Amaral in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dudley Lovett saved Valdosta from getting behind. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Valdosta fans cheered their team off the field, for while New York Red Bulls FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
