A hard shot by Gilson do Vale from long distance, 32 minutes into the match, got Garth Eason's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 34 minutes into the game, New York Red Bulls FC's Cícero Amaral nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Garth Eason made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Garth Eason showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cícero Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gilson do Vale made a kick off. Gilson do Vale blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Garth Eason having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilson do Vale in the 54th minute of play forced Vernon Hills's goalkeeper Garth Eason to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wade Powell came free with the goalkeeper in the 56th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Sam McIntyre could save by the left post. Garth Eason showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilson do Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cícero Amaral in the 61st minute of play forced Vernon Hills's goalkeeper Garth Eason to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
