Rueben Ryan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cícero Amaral in the 16th minute of play. If Blair Merritt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. Monte Goldsmith scored 0-2 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sam McIntyre, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 23rd minute Monte Goldsmith shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sam McIntyre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 25 played minutes Virga City Vipers got a freekick which was hit by Monte Goldsmith. 26 minutes into the match, Virga City Vipers's goal looked a bit too open when Cícero Amaral came free, but Rueben Ryan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Monte Goldsmith hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Rueben Ryan made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Tommy Watson sent off a good shot on target. In the 29th match minute, New York Red Bulls FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilson do Vale to maneuver through the defense. New York Red Bulls FC's Gilson do Vale got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Virga City Vipers's zone, Cícero Amaral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rueben Ryan came out of the goal and Cícero Amaral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, New York Red Bulls FC's Christian Little got a free kick in the 36th minute. Cícero Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rueben Ryan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cícero Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 47th minute, Gilson do Vale left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The New York Red Bulls FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gilson do Vale stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gilson do Vale scored 2-2 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rueben Ryan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Gilson do Vale came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the New York Red Bulls FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilson do Vale couldn't finish the play. Kareem Richter kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. 3-2 became the score in the 63rd minute when Cícero Amaral elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Dwayne Kelly hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Rueben Ryan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cícero Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rueben Ryan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilson do Vale in the 72nd minute of the match. 75 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls FC's goalkeeper Sam McIntyre had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Blair Merritt. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Blair Merritt put it in 3-3 from a short distance just to the right of Sam McIntyre. Rueben Ryan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gilson do Vale went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-3 was the resulting score. Gilson do Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rueben Ryan having to interfere. Gilson do Vale scored 5-3 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rueben Ryan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilson do Vale in the 90th minute of play forced Virga City Vipers's goalkeeper Rueben Ryan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92nd minute, Virga City Vipers's Monte Goldsmith ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Sam McIntyre. Sam McIntyre yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 5-4. Kareem Richter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
