Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Hayden Kitchen started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The referee felt a red card was in order, 8 minutes into the game, when Frankie Alvarado put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 7th minute of the game. One of Effingham:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Leaders FC:s goal. Andy Dyer walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Tuan Napier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hayden Kitchen in the 11th minute of play. Effingham's Rick Blackman got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Effingham's Rick Blackman was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 17th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Wesley Kirkland took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 20th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tuan Napier. Effingham's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Tuan Napier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Hufnagel, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. In the 35th minute, Effingham's Rick Blackman ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Silas Sanford. Silas Sanford yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. 40 minutes into the game, Leaders FC's Peter Hufnagel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tuan Napier made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. When Dylan Lott came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Effingham fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dylan Lott couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rick Blackman to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Roman De La Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rick Blackman in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Silas Sanford prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Leaders FC's Roman De La Cruz got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rick Blackman struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Silas Sanford didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Effingham. A collision led to Leaders FC getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Tomas Meyer hit a great ball. Silas Sanford made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rick Blackman in the 85th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Leaders FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dylan Lott came free, but Silas Sanford reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Effingham's Tuan Napier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hayden Kitchen in the 89th minute of play. Leo Huber kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Leaders FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
