Vincent Chadwick kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In the 41st minute Luis Cornelius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thaddeus Broussard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Luis Cornelius managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brainerd FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Cornelius was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thaddeus Broussard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leon Hanley in the 45th minute of play forced Brainerd FC's goalkeeper Alex Pearson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Brainerd FC's goalkeeper Alex Pearson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 80 minutes, Arnoldo Stahl managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brainerd FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnoldo Stahl was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jackson McGrath might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Thaddeus Broussard. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jackson McGrath ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Palos Verdes Estates booed when Brainerd FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnoldo Stahl didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 90th minute, Arnoldo Stahl left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Brainerd FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Palos Verdes Estates's zone, Arnoldo Stahl stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thaddeus Broussard came out of the goal and Arnoldo Stahl tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thaddeus Broussard showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnoldo Stahl in the 94th minute of the match. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Brainerd FC fully deserved thier win.
