The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Thanh Maloney stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Knoxville United FC defense, Bernie Saucedo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Felix Cowan. The Knoxville United FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Felix Cowan should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thanh Maloney in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elliott Stapleton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Thanh Maloney's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elliott Stapleton was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Blair Levy kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Son Gaines fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elliott Stapleton having to interfere. Thanh Maloney was extremely unlucky when he, in the 88th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Thanh Maloney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thanh Maloney in the 92nd minute of play forced Glen Ellyn's goalkeeper Elliott Stapleton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
