The supporters of Glen Ellyn booed when Childersburg FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Billy Jenkins didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Childersburg FC defense, Ollie Goode kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Donald Brandt. The Childersburg FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Donald Brandt should have stopped the shot. Robert Eddy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elliott Stapleton having to interfere. Donald Brandt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ronald Connolly hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Childersburg FC's zone, Vern DeJesus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donald Brandt came out of the goal and Vern DeJesus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 89 played minutes Childersburg FC got a freekick which was hit by Ronald Connolly. 93 minutes into the match, Glen Ellyn's goalkeeper Elliott Stapleton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robert Eddy. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Glen Ellyn fans cheered their team off the field, for while Childersburg FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
