Gates's Marlon Vilter got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Douglas DeJesus came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Gates fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Douglas DeJesus couldn't finish the play. Elliott Stapleton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marlon Vilter in the 14th minute of play. Douglas DeJesus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Elliott Stapleton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th match minute, Gates was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paolo Atarratze to maneuver through the defense. In the 22nd minute Ollie Goode shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrei Manciulea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Gates getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Marlon Vilter hit a great ball. Gates's Andrei Manciulea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ollie Goode in the 30th minute of play. Elliott Stapleton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas DeJesus in the 40th minute of play. Marlon Vilter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Vern DeJesus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bernie Saucedo was the one to do the kick off. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Douglas DeJesus took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Elliott Stapleton to make any attempt to save it. Andrei Manciulea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernie Saucedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Douglas DeJesus managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gates's supporters rose to their feet, but Douglas DeJesus was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elliott Stapleton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Glen Ellyn's goalkeeper Elliott Stapleton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Andrei Manciulea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ollie Goode, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Gates's Andrei Manciulea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernie Saucedo in the 72nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Glen Ellyn's Anders Ersman got a free kick in the 78th minute. The supporters of Glen Ellyn booed when Gates was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Adkins didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Gates's zone, Ollie Goode stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrei Manciulea came out of the goal and Ollie Goode tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Andrei Manciulea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernie Saucedo in the 88th minute of play. When Bernie Saucedo came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Glen Ellyn fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernie Saucedo couldn't finish the play. After having played for 93 minutes, Marlon Vilter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gates's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marlon Vilter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paolo Atarratze fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elliott Stapleton having to interfere. The Gates players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
