The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes into the game, Tommy Salgado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cosmos Soccer Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Golden Hills the free kick. After 6 played minutes Cosmos Soccer Club got a freekick which was hit by Tommy Salgado. In the 7th minute, Fletcher Funk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nolan Abernathy received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dan Gheară came out and tried to block the shot, but Nolan Abernathy slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 8th minute. Cosmos Soccer Club's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Nolan Abernathy 12 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Egil Östlund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Quintin Redd in the 15th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dominic Perez in the 17th minute of play forced Golden Hills's goalkeeper Egil Östlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Egil Östlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Ţopescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's goal looked a bit too open when Nolan Abernathy came free, but Dan Gheară reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute Ivan Ţopescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egil Östlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nolan Abernathy hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute, Golden Hills's Nolan Abernathy ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dan Gheară. Dan Gheară yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. If Nolan Abernathy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 42 minutes into the match, Quintin Redd had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Egil Östlund. Golden Hills's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Quintin Redd was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. After 45 minutes, Nolan Abernathy made it 4-1 with a short kick to the right side. Cosmos Soccer Club's Dan Gheară tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ivan Ţopescu to strike the kick off in the second half. Nolan Abernathy might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dan Gheară. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nolan Abernathy ran back to his position shaking his head. Cosmos Soccer Club's Dan Gheară played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nolan Abernathy in the 54th minute of play. Dominic Perez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Egil Östlund made a huge save. Nolan Abernathy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dan Gheară having to interfere. 64 minutes into the game, Golden Hills's Ward Doran nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dan Gheară made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-1. After some careless play in the Golden Hills defense, Dominic Perez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Egil Östlund. The Golden Hills fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Egil Östlund should have stopped the shot. Golden Hills:s Egil Östlund showed great skill when he stopped Dominic Perez:s penalty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geoffrey Vasquez in the 83rd minute of play forced Cosmos Soccer Club's goalkeeper Dan Gheară to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Kent Cullen fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cosmos Soccer Club's protests and gave Kent Cullen a yellow card for diving instead. Kent Cullen hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. In the 87th minute, Nolan Abernathy ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dan Gheară was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-2. 90 minutes into the game, Geoffrey Vasquez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-2. Dan Gheară was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Harvey Flynn kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Cosmos Soccer Club's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
