Elkhorn's Earl Rutledge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aírton Vianna in the 9th minute of play. Aírton Vianna scored 0-2 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Earl Rutledge, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Sajokia's Matt Mayes was substituted for Aírton Vianna. 16 minutes into the match, Kareem Nixon notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Elkhorn's Earl Rutledge. Earl Rutledge was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Donny Gonzales took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerard Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Elkhorn fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Earl Rutledge should have stopped the shot. Earl Rutledge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matt Mayes in the 32nd minute of play. In the 35th minute, Christiaan Bruyninckx ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Earl Rutledge was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. 39 minutes into the game, Sajokia's Kareem Nixon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. A collision led to Elkhorn getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Denver Duvall hit a great ball. With a little luck, Elkhorn's Earl Rutledge got control of the ball when Kareem Nixon tried to sneak it across the goal line.
