Middleburg Heights's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mansour Saïdi-Sief was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ismaël Chadl fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Belmadi Sennaoui having to interfere. Abdelhamid Bedjaoui recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Abdelhamid Bedjaouis short, quick shot in the 39thth minute got Belmadi Sennaoui to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Mansour Saïdi-Sief sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Abdelhamid Bedjaoui got free with Belmadi Sennaoui in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

Middleburg Heights's Karim Nekkar got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee ignored Lawnton AFC's protests and gave Mohammed Saïdi-Sief a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Lawnton AFC getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Mohammed Saïdi-Sief hit a great ball. When Mansour Saïdi-Sief got free in front of the goal in the 66th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Cherif Benhamou was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Karim Nekkar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cherif Benhamou read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karim Nekkar in the 71st minute of play forced Lawnton AFC's goalkeeper Cherif Benhamou to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Abdelhamid Bedjaoui came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Lawnton AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abdelhamid Bedjaoui couldn't finish the play.
