After 4 minutes, Clément Gibbs mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sturgis and the Glenelg AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Glenelg AFC booed when Sturgis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clément Gibbs didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 6 minutes, Jerold Conley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Glenelg AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerold Conley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dane Rader took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerold Conley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The long shot by Pascal Lespérance in the 12th minute really tested Pablo Watkins's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 19th match minute, Glenelg AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge Burris to maneuver through the defense. 23 minutes into the game, Clifford Curry was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sturgis's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Glenelg AFC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Sturgis's Clifford Curry got a free kick in the 23rd minute. After 24 minutes of play, Glenelg AFC's Sanford German made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dane Rader was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 27th match minute, Glenelg AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jefferey Binet to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 28 minutes, Louis Lebrun managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sturgis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Louis Lebrun was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jerold Conley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dane Rader having to interfere. After some careless play in the Sturgis defense, Jerold Conley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dane Rader. The Sturgis fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dane Rader should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Clément Gibbs stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 66th minute Clément Gibbs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pablo Watkins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 70th minute, Sanford German got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sanford German sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 79 minutes, Chester Atkinson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Glenelg AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chester Atkinson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sanford German received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Dane Rader tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Louis Lebrun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clément Gibbs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 93rd minute, Louis Lebrun got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 96th minute, Jerold Conley fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The Glenelg AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Glenelg AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
