The audience was convinced that Basile Ruel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Donald Otero was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. In the 14th match minute, Fredericton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Salvatore Stringer to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Fredericton's Zackary Thorne got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 22nd minute, Anatole Dubose got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Salvatore Stringer in the 25th minute of play forced Newcastle FC's goalkeeper Donald Otero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 27 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Fredericton! The referee gave Newcastle FC a penalty, 29 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Joe Seymour, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Fredericton's John Charlesbois. 2-0. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Fredericton's goalkeeper John Charlesbois, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 32 minutes into the game, Stevie Goguen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fredericton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newcastle FC the free kick. After 33 played minutes Fredericton got a freekick which was hit by Stevie Goguen. Anatole Dubose struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. John Charlesbois didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newcastle FC. A collision led to Fredericton getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Dong Shepherd hit a great ball. Darrell Greenwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Charlesbois having to interfere. John Charlesbois took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anatole Dubose, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Fredericton booed when Newcastle FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joe Seymour didn't get a good kick on the ball. Basile Ruel spun around in front of the goal 45 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Newcastle FC's goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Salvatore Stringer to make the kick off. Darrell Greenwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Charlesbois having to interfere. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Donald Otero showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. John Charlesbois came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Newcastle FC's Darrell Greenwood. But to his dismay, Darrell Greenwood quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. A collision led to Fredericton getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 78 minutes into the match, Newcastle FC's goalkeeper Donald Otero had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Basile Ruel. In the 83rd minute, Salvatore Stringer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Basile Ruel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald Otero having to interfere. Basile Ruel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Donald Otero read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. In the 92nd minute, Darrell Greenwood got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
