Burl Werner kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Roy Lyons's late challenge caught a Ioco's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roy Lyons helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 11th minute of the game. One of Vélez Sarsfield:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ioco:s goal. Bastien Brunson went to the wrong direction when Bob Mallory was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Bastien Brunson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mitch Ibarra in the 31st minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, Vélez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Arlen Numbers came free, but Bastien Brunson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Vélez Sarsfield's zone, Arlen Numbers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bastien Brunson came out of the goal and Arlen Numbers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arlen Numbers in the 45th minute of play forced Vélez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Bastien Brunson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Keith Torrez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Mitch Ibarra reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Bastien Brunson. The goal made the score 0-1. Vélez Sarsfield's Bastien Brunson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Vélez Sarsfield from getting a goal against them. Mitch Ibarra might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bastien Brunson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mitch Ibarra ran back to his position shaking his head. Bastien Brunson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emile McWilliams in the 67th minute of play. In the 71st minute Dusty Hoover shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurelien Langelier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Keith Torrez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aurelien Langelier was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 76th match minute, Ioco was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucien Leal to maneuver through the defense. Aurelien Langelier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dusty Hoover in the 78th minute of the match. Bob Mallory kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. 88 minutes into the match, Emile McWilliams dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Bastien Brunson, 1-2. With a little luck, Vélez Sarsfield's Bastien Brunson got control of the ball when Mitch Ibarra tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Ioco left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Vélez Sarsfield.
