He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Dawson reached it. Paul Champion showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cleveland DuLin in the 21st minute of the match. Paul Champion took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cleveland DuLin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dewayne Bérard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ambroise Smiley having to interfere. After 31 played minutes, Montreal FC's Dewayne Bérard shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ambroise Smiley came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Montreal FC reached it. In the 36th minute Cleveland DuLin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Champion saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 40th minute, Jeramy Lafond hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Montreal FC's Paul Champion played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cleveland DuLin in the 42nd minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cleveland DuLin was the one to do the kick off. Cleveland DuLin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Paul Champion made a huge save. Dewayne Bérard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Ambroise Smiley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Montreal FC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Bradford Aupry hit a great ball. Cleveland DuLin came free with the goalkeeper in the 69th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Paul Champion could save by the left post. Bertram Comer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Ambroise Smiley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 74 minutes into the game, Jeramy Lafond was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dawson's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montreal FC the free kick. After 74 played minutes Dawson got a freekick which was hit by Jeramy Lafond. In the 91st match minute, Dawson was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laurent Lewis to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 92 minutes, Bertram Comer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montreal FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bertram Comer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cleveland DuLin got free with Paul Champion in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
