Cowley's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MTL Impact the free kick. After a rather tough play, Cowley's Lester Tharp got a free kick in the 4th minute. Barnabé Rutledge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leland Trejo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute, Jourdain Cullen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With 25 minutes on the clock, Lou Crabtree commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After a rather tough play, Cowley's Lou Crabtree got a free kick in the 25th minute. Tracy Bélanger made an important save on a dangerous shot by Brice Gaulin in the 30th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Reggie Metcalf kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tracy Bélanger. That made the score 1-1 in the 32 minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Reggie Metcalf made the kick off in the second half. Reggie Metcalf received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Tracy Bélanger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 54th minute, Leland Trejo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 56 played minutes Cowley got a freekick which was hit by Ross Thurman. In the 59th minute, Jourdain Cullen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jourdain Cullen took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Barnabé Rutledge. Barnabé Rutledge dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. In the 70th minute Reggie Metcalf shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tracy Bélanger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jourdain Cullen struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Barnabé Rutledge didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MTL Impact. In the 74th minute, Thaddeus Mobley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Reggie Metcalf fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tracy Bélanger having to interfere. Brice Gaulin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Barnabé Rutledge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jourdain Cullen in the 83rd minute of the match. MTL Impact's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
