Bruno Epperson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Noel Wynn having to interfere. If Bruno Epperson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Freddy Gaulin kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Recife's zone, Bruno Epperson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. A very good chance. 46 minutes into the match, Ceylon AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Gilbert Marier came free, but François Hooks reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kim Provencher stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Noel Wynn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Epperson, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bruno Epperson in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Noel Wynn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 78th minute Odilon Heard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but François Hooks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. François Hooks didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sport Recife. After 90 played minutes Ceylon AFC got a freekick which was hit by Humbert Dooley. Noel Wynn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Epperson, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Sport Recife's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
