The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alexandria's Brock Hatcher proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Alexandria from getting a goal against them. In the 32nd minute Mario Fecteau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brock Hatcher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brock Hatcher came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Montréal City's Eustache Mabry. But to his dismay, Eustache Mabry quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. 46 minutes into the match, Alexandria's goalkeeper Brock Hatcher had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mario Fecteau. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Everette Bruner to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Ollie Dubois took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Elliott Jarrett to make any attempt to save it. Mario Fecteau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emil Roussel charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emil Roussel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 88th minute of the match, Clark Cyr tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Elliott Jarrett saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 90th minute of the match, Everette Bruner got a very nice opportunity to score, but Elliott Jarrett was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Elliott Jarrett made an important save on a dangerous shot by Everette Bruner in the 92nd minute. After 96 minutes, Clark Cyr mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alexandria and the Montréal City players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Alexandria's Clark Cyr got a free kick in the 97th minute. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
