Bazil Leiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sabino Chinchetru having to interfere. In the 6thth minute of the game Nevada Videgaray who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Colon FC's Ciro Godan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Cordeal Caborredondo struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Sabino Chinchetru didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Colon FC. After a rather tough play, Peñarol's Nevada Videgaray got a free kick in the 18th minute. After a rather tough play, Peñarol's Hotz Campon got a free kick in the 21st minute. In the 24th minute of the match Colon FC got a corner. Peñarol's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Chorche Mateo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Colon FC's Chorche Mateo was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Sabino Chinchetru in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Cordeal Caborredondo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Colon FC's Ciro Godan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nevada Videgaray in the 29th minute of play. When Bazil Leiro came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Colon FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bazil Leiro couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Colon FC's Ciro Godan got control of the ball when Mazuste Lamota tried to sneak it across the goal line. It was beautiful to see Peñarol's Hernan Izaga in action when he in the 40th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Mazuste Lamotas short, quick shot in the 46thth minute got Ciro Godan to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.

A collision led to Colon FC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Xuaco Mariny hit a great ball. Mazuste Lamota received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Ciro Godan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bazil Leiro in the 63rd minute of play forced Peñarol's goalkeeper Sabino Chinchetru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Cordeal Caborredondo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sabino Chinchetru stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bazil Leiro's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. 71 minutes into the match, Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Bazil Leiro came free, but Sabino Chinchetru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bazil Leiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Sabino Chinchetru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 75th minute, Cordeal Caborredondo fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Sabino Chinchetru, passed just outside the right post. Cordeal Caborredondo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Bazil Leiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sabino Chinchetru was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. Sabino Chinchetru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bazil Leiro in the 80th minute of the match. With a little luck, Peñarol's Sabino Chinchetru got control of the ball when Cordeal Caborredondo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sabino Chinchetru showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bazil Leiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Cordeal Caborredondo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sabino Chinchetru having to interfere. After having played for 95 minutes, Nevada Videgaray managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peñarol's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nevada Videgaray was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dolfos Pieres kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Mazuste Lamota fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciro Godan having to interfere. Colon FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
