In the 7th minute Cesaro Somalo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matei Elguera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Potencia F.C.'s Matei Elguera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorrin Tezanos in the 11th minute of play. If Reno Ibarrola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 18 minutes, Cesaro Somalo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Atletico Peñarol's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cesaro Somalo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 24th match minute, Potencia F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reno Ibarrola to maneuver through the defense. When Intxixu Ordax came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Potencia F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Intxixu Ordax couldn't finish the play. Intxixu Ordax received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Hug Rusoto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Intxixu Ordax got free with Hug Rusoto in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cesaro Somalo in the 32nd minute of play forced Potencia F.C.'s goalkeeper Matei Elguera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matei Elguera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Derwin Oberto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Intxixu Ordax had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Cesaro Somalo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Potencia F.C.'s Matei Elguera. Matei Elguera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Matei Elguera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorrin Tezanos in the 42nd minute of play. Reno Ibarrola hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 45th minute of the game. One of Potencia F.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Club Atletico Peñarol:s goal. Lizardi Carda shot the penalty kick right outside the post.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cesaro Somalo was the one to do the kick off. Club Atletico Peñarol's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Lizardi Carda in the 54th minute. A collision led to Club Atletico Peñarol getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Lizardi Carda hit a great ball. When Hermelando Luciano came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Potencia F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hermelando Luciano couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Club Atletico Peñarol booed when Potencia F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xuaco Anuncibay didn't get a good kick on the ball. Constancio Sabuco tried in the game's 72nd match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Matei Elguera. An annoying self made goal, 0-2. Matei Elguera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cesaro Somalo, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. With a little luck, Potencia F.C.'s Matei Elguera got control of the ball when Gutxi Lecea tried to sneak it across the goal line. Reno Ibarrola hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. 85 minutes into the game, Agostinho Amigo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Potencia F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Atletico Peñarol the free kick. Hug Rusoto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Club Atletico Peñarol's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
