In the 24th minute, Jeronimo Mogrovejo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. PEÑAROL's Edgardo Cora got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jeronimo Mogrovejo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Feliz Rubion having to make a save. After 37 minutes of play, PEÑAROL's Edgardo Cora made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Feliz Rubion was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 42nd minute Eutropio Asteguieta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ihintza Godan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half PEÑAROL were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pierres Arista to make the kick off. Olmos AFC's Feliz Rubion played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgardo Cora in the 55th minute of play. If Jeronimo Mogrovejo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Olmos AFC's Feliz Rubion got control of the ball when Jeronimo Mogrovejo tried to sneak it across the goal line. 62 minutes into the game, Edgardo Cora recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Feliz Rubion.
