The audience was convinced that Selmo Estevis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nuxila Rendon was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. John Paul Abbenevoli made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mikolas Acacia in the 29th minute. Mikolas Acacia came free with the goalkeeper in the 31st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. After 37 minutes, Endura Hervias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mederos FC and the Club Atletico Peñarol players grew even worse after the yellow card. Selmo Estevis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nuxila Rendon having to interfere. Jurdan Gavilan struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Nuxila Rendon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atletico Peñarol. Jurdan Gavilan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Nuxila Rendon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 48th minute of the match, Mikolas Acacia got a very nice opportunity to score, but John Paul Abbenevoli was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ishmael Barreto to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Mederos FC's zone, Eufrasio Olveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nuxila Rendon came out of the goal and Eufrasio Olveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico Peñarol's Meder Salantes got a free kick in the 56th minute. Ishmael Barreto's late challenge caught a Club Atletico Peñarol's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ishmael Barreto helped the player get up and apologised. Club Atletico Peñarol made a substitution. Remicio Munibe replaced Meder Salantes. The supporters of Club Atletico Peñarol booed when Mederos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ishmael Barreto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eufrasio Olveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ishmael Barreto in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg John Paul Abbenevoli saved Club Atletico Peñarol from getting behind. 76 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Mikolas Acacia came free, but John Paul Abbenevoli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Club Atletico Peñarol's Eufrasio Olveira got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Mederos FC getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Mikolas Acacia hit a great ball. If Selmo Estevis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Selmo Estevis got free with Nuxila Rendon in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. John Paul Abbenevoli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mikolas Acacia in the 90th minute of play. John Paul Abbenevoli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ishmael Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 93 minutes into the game, Hernando Aribau was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mederos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Atletico Peñarol the free kick. A collision led to Mederos FC getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Hernando Aribau hit a great ball. Club Atletico Peñarol's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
