Solustiano Oces charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Solustiano Oces the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Hombres de negro booed when Paysandú FCU was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Napier Puget didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Mantzio Baragaño managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paysandú FCU's supporters rose to their feet, but Mantzio Baragaño was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernesto Ter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 21st minute, Mogel Sopeña hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 27 minutes into the match, Franco Alfonso had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eneko Edeon. Paysandú FCU's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Franco Alfonso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 30 minutes, Franco Alfonso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hombres de negro and the Paysandú FCU players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 30 played minutes Hombres de negro got a freekick which was hit by Franco Alfonso. Ernesto Ter was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Saturnino Velasquez. 36 minutes into the game, Franco Alfonso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Eneko Edeon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 38th minute, Mitxel Moyuelo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eneko Edeon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geofredo Castropan in the 41st minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Urdin Burgoa to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Urdin Burgoa in the 56th minute of play forced Hombres de negro's goalkeeper Ernesto Ter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 60 minutes into the match, Paysandú FCU's goal looked a bit too open when Elequemedo Villamil came free, but Eneko Edeon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ernesto Ter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Urdin Burgoa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Urdin Burgoa took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ernesto Ter. Ernesto Ter dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Ernesto Ter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Muc Amandi in the 73rd minute of the match. Paysandú FCU's Eneko Edeon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elequemedo Villamil in the 75th minute of play. In the 78th minute Urdin Burgoa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernesto Ter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 80 minutes into the game, Urdin Burgoa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Ernesto Ter was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Hombres de negro's zone, Urdin Burgoa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto Ter came out of the goal and Urdin Burgoa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Urdin Burgoa in the 89th minute of play forced Hombres de negro's goalkeeper Ernesto Ter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ernesto Ter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Muc Amandi in the 92nd minute of play. 96 minutes into the match, Geofredo Castropan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Eneko Edeon, 2-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Hombres de negro walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
