The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Jasone Mowat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. Marco Charlin made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Salvatore Ardizzoni sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to FC Zulia getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Salvatore Ardizzoni hit a great ball. In the 20th minute Heliodoro Uriondo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Charlin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Zulia's Karlos Mota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jasone Mowat in the 26th minute of play. Jasone Mowat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karlos Mota having to interfere. Lautaro Marful fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karlos Mota having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Heliodoro Uriondo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Marco Charlin. That made the score 1-0 in the 32 minute of play. FC Zulia's Heliodoro Uriondo got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 38 minutes into the match, Mapache UTD's Jasone Mowat sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Karlos Mota narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Andoni Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Mapache UTD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andoni Murillo couldn't finish the play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jasone Mowat to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Mapache UTD booed when FC Zulia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mario Ralph didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 54 played minutes FC Zulia got a freekick which was hit by Heliodoro Uriondo. In the 55th minute, Salvatore Ardizzoni hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mapache UTD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Zulia the free kick. After 69 played minutes Mapache UTD got a freekick which was hit by Andoni Murillo. In the 72nd minute of the match Xaime Irisarri sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marco Charlin skillfully saved the ball. Marco Charlin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rolando Espinace, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Heliodoro Uriondo kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Jasone Mowat did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Karlos Mota 76 minutes into the match. If Heliodoro Uriondo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jasone Mowat's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 84thth minute, Karlos Mota skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Jasone Mowat took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Karlos Mota. Karlos Mota dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. 91 minutes into the match, Jasone Mowat had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Karlos Mota. FC Zulia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jasone Mowat was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3.
