Armindo Arruda charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Armindo Arruda the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Paranari getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Telmo Meireles stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sílvio Luís Braga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronaldo Paiva in the 52nd minute. In the 55th minute, Ronaldo Paiva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
