In the 11th minute, Bebeto Varela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nico Tasso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bebeto Varela's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Nico Tasso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bebeto Varela in the 19th minute of play. Oscar Vasconcelos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Nico Tasso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Funchal booed when SUCATA S.E. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Nogueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. The wind increased when Elder Mattos made the kick off in the second half. Frédson Sena might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eriberto Vale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frédson Sena ran back to his position shaking his head. SUCATA S.E.'s Nico Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar Vasconcelos in the 61st minute of play. Mazinho Rezende recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Funchal played a much better game than SUCATA S.E. and deserved their victory. The SUCATA S.E. players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
