In the 29th minute of the match Serinhaem got a corner. Engenhoca's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rubinho Soares ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Rubinho Soares almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Engenhoca's Gugu Linares did a great save. Ronaldinho Romero hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Zé Augusto Goiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breno Mineiro having to interfere. Engenhoca's Gugu Linares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anderson Jacinto in the 39th minute of play. In the 45th minute, Luiz Guilherme Leme fired a really elegant long shot, but Breno Mineiro threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zé Augusto Goiano was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Humberto Linhares in the 52nd minute of play forced Serinhaem's goalkeeper Breno Mineiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Engenhoca's Gugu Linares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Engenhoca from getting a goal against them. In the 64th minute Engenhoca were awarded a corner. Luiz Guilherme Leme went to the cornerflag to take it. Luiz Guilherme Leme made a great header on Engenhoca's corner, it was just that Serinhaem's Breno Mineiro managed to reach the ball for a save. Gugu Linares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eurico Fonseca in the 67th minute of play. Anderson Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gugu Linares having to interfere. In the 71st minute, Zé Augusto Goiano made a precise shot to the right of Breno Mineiro. Serinhaem's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Breno Mineiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Humberto Linhares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zé Paulo Tande during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 79 played minutes Engenhoca got a freekick which was hit by Zé Paulo Tande. Zé Paulo Tande was shown his second yellow card after 80 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent.
