After having played for 19 minutes, Guga Gaúcho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Annapolis EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guga Gaúcho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Arenal booed when Annapolis EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Beto Linares didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Annapolis EC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Júnior Toscano hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vitinho Costa during the 29th minute. Alfredo Moreno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivo de Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alfredo Moreno showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The Annapolis EC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Arenal were winning 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guga Gaúcho was the one to do the kick off. After 56 minutes, Percy Fernandes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Arenal and the Annapolis EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Ivo de Souza came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Arenal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivo de Souza couldn't finish the play. In the 61st play minute Célio Leal came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Alfredo Moreno. 1-3. Célio Leal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Alfredo Moreno made a huge save. In the 71st match minute, Annapolis EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amílton Lara to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Arenal's Reginaldo Matos tried to score from far away in the 72nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 74 minutes into the match, Annapolis EC's goalkeeper Alfredo Moreno had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Célio Leal. In the 76th minute Percy Fernandes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Moreno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute, Vitinho Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Arenal getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Ivo de Souza hit a great ball. Célio Leal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Alfredo Moreno made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guga Gaúcho in the 90th minute of play forced Arenal's goalkeeper Noel Soeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arenal's Célio Leal got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 94 minutes, Célio Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arenal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Célio Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
