The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Itamby AD's Maurinho de Andrade proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Itamby AD from getting a goal against them. 11 minutes into the match, Geovânio Leite dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Maurinho de Andrade, 1-1. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Samuca Schmidt put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Osmar de Brito. After 18 played minutes Itamby AD got a freekick which was hit by Róbson Castro. Osmar de Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuca Schmidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After 23 minutes, Benê Rossi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Irape and the Itamby AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Itamby AD booed when Irape was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. When Giovani Souto came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Itamby AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Giovani Souto couldn't finish the play. Osmar de Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giovani Souto in the 36th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Giovani Souto put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Osmar de Brito. After 45 played minutes Irape got a freekick which was hit by Geovânio Leite. If Samuca Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Samuca Schmidt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Giovani Souto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Osmar de Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuca Schmidt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 56th minute, Benê Rossi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Giuseppe Barral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The long shot by Márcio Gerber in the 64th minute really tested Osmar de Brito's skills. The referee gave Irape a penalty, 93 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cacá Pernambucano, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Itamby AD's Maurinho de Andrade. 3-4. Itamby AD's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
