Spectators: 7217 (Terracing: 5414, Seating: 1660, VIP seats: 143) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Fred Coutinho started the match with the kick off. Nelson da Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betinho Goiano in the 6th minute of play. 7 minutes into the match, PiuPiu's goal looked a bit too open when Fred Coutinho came free, but Nelson da Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to VÉLEZ SARSFIELD getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. José Vítor Quintal hit a great ball. PiuPiu's defense didn't have a chance, in the 17th minute, when José Vítor Quintal scored to the left of an out of position Nelson da Silva, making the score, 1-0. After 22 minutes of play, PiuPiu's Vukoje Bogičević made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Elder Costa was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 27th minute, Kléberson Reis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kléberson Reis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elder Costa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Vukoje Bogičević took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Elder Costa. Elder Costa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Elder Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vukoje Bogičević, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vukoje Bogičević to strike the kick off in the second half. Vukoje Bogičević received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Elder Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vukoje Bogičević did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-3 to the left of a surprised Elder Costa 55 minutes into the match. Elder Costa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vukoje Bogičević's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. PiuPiu's Pedro Luiz Tróia got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Elder Costa was a little too slow when Vukoje Bogičević got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 66th minute. The score was now 1-4. When Vukoje Bogičević came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the PiuPiu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vukoje Bogičević couldn't finish the play. João Augusto Neiva took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 73rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Elder Costa. VÉLEZ SARSFIELD's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 74th minute, José Vítor Quintal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Vukoje Bogičević came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the PiuPiu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vukoje Bogičević couldn't finish the play. Bebeto Leão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Pedro Luiz Tróia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vukoje Bogičević recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience held their breath when Jânio Paranaense in the 92nd minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Nelson da Silva's left hand side. When the final whistle sounded PiuPiu left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than VÉLEZ SARSFIELD.
