Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lúcio Ferreira in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Augusto Cearense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Adelino Corrêa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Augusto Cearense was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. In the 8th minute, Lúcio Ferreira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Canicura AD's Clóvis da Fonseca got a free kick in the 11th minute. When João Vítor Rocha came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Canicura AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Vítor Rocha couldn't finish the play. Falcão Novaes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raphael Brodel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. After 16 played minutes Cabeco got a freekick which was hit by Denílson Cavalcante. Adelino Corrêa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. José Augusto Cearense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Canicura AD's Falcão Novaes got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 27 minutes, Gabriel Donato mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Canicura AD and the Cabeco players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 27th minute of the game. One of Canicura AD:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cabeco:s goal. José Augusto Cearense had in the 29thth minute some difficulties stopping Vivaldo Matos's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 32nd minute, Henrique Donatello hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Raphael Brodel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clóvis da Fonseca in the 34th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lúcio Ferreira in the 36th minute of play forced Canicura AD's goalkeeper José Augusto Cearense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Clóvis da Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 48 minutes into the game, Canicura AD's Falcão Novaes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Raphael Brodel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Clóvis da Fonseca stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
