Fellipe Pombal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olívio Soeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Lenílson Sarmento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Fellipe Pombal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Mazinho Zanette came free, but Kauã da Cunha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17thth minute of the game Lenílson Sarmento who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cunani's Fellipe Pombal was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, São Paulo's Kauã da Cunha got control of the ball when David Mesquita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kauã da Cunha made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when André Luís Matorin sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Lenílson Sarmento put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Fellipe Pombal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lenílson Sarmento in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fellipe Pombal saved Cunani from getting behind. 34 minutes into the game, William Barral cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Fellipe Pombal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 39th minute, Cunani's David Mesquita ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kauã da Cunha. Kauã da Cunha yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. In the 42nd match minute, Cunani was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frederico Simão to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lenílson Sarmento in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fellipe Pombal saved Cunani from getting behind. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mazinho Zanette to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lenílson Sarmento got free with Fellipe Pombal in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lenílson Sarmento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Claudinho Leite hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Kauã da Cunha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of David Mesquita's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Lenílson Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Mazinho Zanette's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kauã da Cunha was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Kauã da Cunha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mazinho Zanette in the 78th minute of the match. When David Mesquita fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cunani's protests and gave David Mesquita a yellow card for diving instead. David Mesquita hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. If Lenílson Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mazinho Zanette's late challenge caught a São Paulo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mazinho Zanette helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Cunani getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Mazinho Zanette hit a great ball. The Cunani fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. São Paulo were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
