Raúl Negri scored 1-0 in the 3rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Amauri Mandrak, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nuno Sousa charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nuno Sousa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 9 played minutes Macaubas SS got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Sousa. Doni Severos short, quick shot in the 14thth minute got Amauri Mandrak to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Teodoro Carioca didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nuno Sousa went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. 27 minutes into the game, C.A. Itajaí - FSCMZ's Raúl Negri nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Amauri Mandrak made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. In the 31st minute, Macaubas SS's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Raúl Negri fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Sílvio Pimenta's late challenge caught a C.A. Itajaí - FSCMZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sílvio Pimenta helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Macaubas SS's Sílvio Pimenta got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After some careless play in the C.A. Itajaí - FSCMZ defense, Ismael Garcia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Teodoro Carioca. The C.A. Itajaí - FSCMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Teodoro Carioca should have stopped the shot. C.A. Itajaí - FSCMZ's Teodoro Carioca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Sousa in the 43rd minute of play. Nuno Sousa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Teodoro Carioca read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. In the 45th minute, Nando Neiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leonel Messias stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sílvio Pimenta kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Doni Severo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Amauri Mandrak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Teodoro Carioca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ismael Garcia in the 73rd minute. A collision led to Macaubas SS getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Bebeto Koehler hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. Itajaí - FSCMZ's zone, Nuno Sousa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teodoro Carioca came out of the goal and Nuno Sousa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Nuno Sousa came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Macaubas SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuno Sousa couldn't finish the play. Amauri Mandrak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doni Severo, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ismael Garcia in the 95th minute of play forced C.A. Itajaí - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Teodoro Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Macaubas SS players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
